How ratio scaling works
Scale two quantities while preserving their relationship.
Formula and convention
New second quantity = original second quantity x new first quantity / original first quantity.A worked example
Scaling a 3:5 ratio so the first quantity is 12 gives a second quantity of 20.
Scope and precision
Assumes a linear relationship. Baking times and many physical processes do not scale linearly.
Displayed results may be rounded. Inputs are processed locally and are not stored by this site. Keep the original values if you need to reproduce the result.
Why might another tool give a different result?
Compare unit definitions, rounding, period assumptions, and input values. This page states the convention used by this calculator.
